Regional Expert (Russia)

Who we're looking for

OpenMinds is seeking an experienced and passionate Regional Expert (Russia) to join our interdisciplinary team. This role is vital for deepening our understanding of the Russian socio-political landscape, and crafting impactful communication strategies.

The ideal candidate will bring a nuanced understanding of Russia's political and social context, contributing to our mission of countering propaganda. Through rigorous analysis and innovative research, you will help us navigate the complexities of the region's context, geopolitical dynamics and societal changes. Experience in a management role is preferred, as this position is expected to grow into a team leader at the intersection of research and communications.

In this position, you will:

— Conduct comprehensive analyses of the political and social context in Russia, identifying trends and key developments and write reports on your findings

— Advise other departments to ensure that your insights inform our broader strategy and operations

— Engage with a network of experts, including think tanks, academia, and international partners, to gather diverse perspectives and strengthen our analyses

— Gradually take on management responsibilities, with the potential to lead a team working at the intersection of research and communications

We are a perfect match if you have:

— Deep knowledge of Russia's political and social context, with an ability to analyse and predict its implications on global affairs

— A track record of publications on Russian affairs in respected academic journals or media outlets

— Experience in designing policy recommendations, communication campaigns, or research projects

— Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, coupled with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively

— Proficiency in both English and Russian, enabling effective research and stakeholder engagement

— A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Russian Studies, or a related field

— Experience in a management role is preferred
