Code of ethics

OpenMinds is committed to operating according to the values of an open and democratic society.
01
Integrity and Transparency: We are committed to honest and transparent communication. We do not engage in manipulation or the creation of false narratives.
02
Respect for Individuals and Organisations: We uphold the dignity and privacy of individuals and organisations. We do not impersonate others, misrepresent identities, or use deception in our work.
03
Commitment to Ethical Impact: Our work is aimed at protecting communities from influence operations and cognitive threats. We prioritise ethical practices that avoid harm to people and societies.
04
Non-discrimination: We do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, race, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation in any of our activities or operations. Our communications and activities will not be used to exacerbate existing social divisions, prejudices, or state-sanctioned discrimination – nor will they be used to promote hate in any form.
05
Security, Confidentiality and Privacy: We respect the confidentiality of sensitive information and ensure that our work does not endanger individuals, organisations, or national security. We ensure that any mention of individuals or organisations is with their explicit consent and does not put them at risk.
OpenMinds is committed to operating according to the values of an open and democratic society. We hold ourselves accountable to a set of ethics that define and constrain our activities, and support positive impacts on society while avoiding harmful and unethical practices.

Through our work, we advance freedom of thought and build agency within communities and societies. Our work is used exclusively to counter cognitive threats and coercive influence networks. It is not used to promote or advantage political parties, to advance commercial interests, or for the personal gain of individual actors. To ensure this, we adhere to five core principles.
